Tyokutuk & Baukutuk

Tyokutuk and Bukutuk originally came from the same concept but eventually evolved into two folding knives with distinct styles.

Their names are derived from two martial arts techniques from long long time ago, from the different profiles you could see, one direct and one reverse, one for attack and one for defense.

They could even be regarded as male and female, one is more violent, and the other is more graceful.

Despite their vastly different personalities, they share the same core design philosophy. They are intertwined by theirs fate.

More than one year ago, we accomplished the designs for these two knives. However, during production, we faced numerous challenges. The pronounced individuality of each knife needs to be expressed through corresponding craftsmanship. It had overturned our previous experiences. We had to make repeated attempts.

Fortunately, we have finally overcome all obstacles. and I would like to introduce them to you.

They both equip integral titanium alloy handles, which made from one solid piece of titanium with a creative desian, high precision by CNC machining. we could say it isn’t a latest/ adnaced processing technology, it is still the most challenging and costly teachnic for knife making.

It’s not just about cutting a slot into one solid piece of TC4, there are many details and structures featuring incorporate design intent. For example, the pocket clip, is integrated/ fixed one for Tyokutuk and a flexible one which can be assemblyed to left or right for Bukutuk. How to position them on the handle and considerate the involvement with the blade, and combine the overall lines and aesthetics, these seemingly simple improvements are not easy to the integral handles.
For example, Bukutuk's detachable quick release hook and Tyokutuk blade's decorative lines. The implementation of all details requires unparalleled precision, patience, as well as time, trial and error.
Their commonalities:
M390 blade, integrated TC4 handle, copper bracket ceramic bearing….The never mediocre inventiveness from ForeverSteel
